Teary-eyed Blacka Hire engineers marked the end of an era with the de-installation of a stage that has become Manchester’s go-to place for live events over the summer.
Set up just in time for summer 2013, Blacka Hire’s semi-permanent stage at Spinningfields’ courtyard has played host to comedy and music from every corner of the globe, making the most from one of Manchester’s rare outdoor drinking spots.
Kicking off in May with the Aperol-sponsored Best of British, which showcased the best in home-grown indie and rock Spinfest took crowds on something of a musical world tour, taking in everything from smooth Latin grooves to all-American rock ‘n’ roll and blues along the way.
As if these now legendary events weren’t enough for this most musical of cities’ discerning ears, the Blacka stage set the scene for twice-monthly summer sessions to test the Blacka sound system to its limits with electro, indie pop and soul mini-concerts.
This is the second consecutive year Blacka has provided a stage and sound setup for the Spinfest event, with live acts supplied by our good friends at Genre Music. We’re already looking forward to getting involved in 2014!
Fans of an al frescoe tipple or two needn’t worry, the famous winter teepee will be providing shelter from the elements at the courtyard at the end of October. Watch this space!
