Stars of all stripes brought the sounds of America to Manchester this weekend at another fantastic Spinfest event.
Music fans were treated to rockabilly, country, soul, Mowtown and more, in a musical offering, spanning from the 1920s to the present day.
Kicking off the SpinFest American Vintage event, old-country trio Three Wheels On recreated the sounds of Hank Williams, Johnny Cash and Jimmy Rodgers before Lauren Housley took to the stage with a tribute to legendary soul divas.
In true Spinfest fashion, the swingin’ and shakin’ didn’t stop there.
Harlem swing three-piece 52 Skidoo poured a shot of speakeasy sassiness over proceedings with their jumping interpretation of 1920s piano stride, before Denny McLaine and the Fireballs turned up the temperature higher still, with a rock ‘n’ roll set that was nothing short of incendiary.
Kiki Deville and the Cadillacs, kept things revved-up with a vintage selection of jazz and blues, and headliner Dominic Halpin and the Honey Bs rounded off the night with a show-stopping mix of smooth Rat Pack classics.
The American Vintage extravaganza was just one in a series of Spinfest events taking place throughout summer, making the most of a semi-permanent stage and sound setup from Blacka Hire at the heart of Spinningfields, which has seen everything from indie to salsa sounds pleasing crowds over the summer.
And don’t worry if you’ve missed the events so far – there’s still more to come! A boozy Beer and Blues session completes the Spinfest calendar on August 25th. Don’t miss out!
